About the dilemma abstract

Presenting at the Rogano meeting is all about discussing your scientific dilemmas.

You get a chance to discuss your query with the audience, an audience that consists of your fellow PhD candidates and more experienced researchers. So, take a minute to ponder on the issues that come up in your research and share them with us. It can be about your question how to collect additional data in a creative way, you could be wondering what the general definition of ‘identity’ is, since you’ve been reading about all sorts of constructs in the literature, or you would like to discuss how to respond to the somewhat stingy feedback you received from a reviewer after submitting your article.

Any dilemma goes!

In order to get the most out of your 30 min timeslot (10 mins presentation and 20 mins discussion) we ask you to prepare your dilemma abstract in the following order:

Abstract title:
Give us a clue on what your dilemma is about

Abstract text:

  • What is my research about? Please be explicit in the problem – gap – hook.
Never heard of the ‘Problem Gap Hook’ method?  Click here for a (short!) article on it by Lorelei Lingard.
  • What is the query / dilemma I want to discuss? Try to narrow it down to one issue, the Rogano audience is known for its enthusiasm in discussing and helping you with your dilemma.
  • What do I want to achieve from the audience? What is it you would like to take home with you?
